Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 13, 2026
In short
- Good Days has no accounts, no sign-in and no servers of our own. We never receive your challenges, journal entries, moods or dates.
- Your data lives on your device and — if you enable it — in your private iCloud database, which only you can access.
- Analytics, crash and performance reports are off by default and run only after you opt in. Without consent the only network traffic is downloading the app's configuration.
- No ads, no tracking across apps, no sale or sharing of personal data.
Data controller
The data controller is Piotrek Demidowicz (demicode), Poland. Privacy questions: piotrek.demidowicz@gmail.com.
Data that stays on your device
Challenges (name, type, start date, daily cost), journal entries and moods, reminder settings, urge logs, milestones and app preferences are stored locally with Apple SwiftData. Because this information can reveal facts about your health (e.g. a history of alcohol use), we treat it as sensitive: it is processed only on your device at your request and never transmitted to us.
- iCloud sync (CloudKit) — optional. Data is synced to your private iCloud database tied to your Apple ID. Apple provides the infrastructure; we cannot read it. Turn it off in the app's Settings or in iOS iCloud settings.
- Home-screen widget — a small snapshot (challenge name, day count, next milestone) is copied to a shared container on your device so the widget can display it. It does not leave the device.
- App Lock (Face ID / Touch ID) — biometric authentication is performed by iOS. The app only receives a success/failure result and never sees biometric data.
- Data export — you can export your data to a file at any time. The file is created on your device and shared only where you choose.
- Reminders — daily reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device.
What happens without any consent
If you decline everything, the app still needs two technical services to work (legal basis: our legitimate interest in providing a functioning app, GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)):
- Firebase Remote Config — downloads the app's configuration (feature switches, motivational quotes, helpline number). The request carries a random Firebase installation ID and app version. No usage data is sent.
- Notifications — only if you allow notifications in the iOS prompt, a technical device token is generated (Firebase Cloud Messaging) so the app can receive remote notifications. Decline the prompt and no token is ever created. Daily reminders are local and work without it.
The Firebase installation ID is a random value that is not tied to your name, Apple ID or advertising identifier. Google acts as our processor; data may be processed in the United States under the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
Analytics and diagnostics — only with your consent
On first launch we ask whether you agree to "Analytics & diagnostics". It is off until you say yes and covers three Google Firebase services:
- Analytics — basic interaction events (e.g. "challenge created", "journal entry added"), the screen you are on, app version, device model, OS version, language and country, with an app instance identifier. We do not use the advertising identifier (IDFA) and do not track you across other apps or websites.
- Crashlytics — crash reports: device model, iOS version, app version, stack trace and app state at the time of the crash.
- Performance Monitoring — technical metrics such as launch time and network latency.
The text of your entries, challenge names, dates and moods are never sent to any of these.
Legal basis: consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). Withdraw it at any time in the app's Settings → Privacy; collection stops immediately. Retention by Google: analytics identifiers up to 14 months, crash and performance data 90 days.
The consent screen also shows a "Marketing" category. It is currently inactive — no marketing communication is sent — and is present only so that you can decide in advance should such a feature ever be added.
Optional features that contact third parties
- GIF search — if the GIF feature is available and you use it, your search query is sent to GIPHY or Tenor to return results. These providers process queries under their own privacy policies. Nothing is sent unless you search.
- Help map — the Help tab shows support locations using Apple MapKit; map tiles are requested from Apple. Tapping "Navigate" opens Apple Maps; tapping a phone number opens the Phone app. The app does not access your location.
Third-party services (summary)
- Apple CloudKit / iCloud — optional sync of your data in your private database
- Apple MapKit — map of help locations
- Google Firebase: Remote Config — always (configuration only); Cloud Messaging — only after you allow notifications; Analytics, Crashlytics, Performance Monitoring — only with your consent
- GIPHY / Tenor — GIF search, only when you use it
Your rights and choices
- Delete everything — Settings → Privacy → "Delete all data" removes your challenges, journal, reminders and consents from the device and, if sync is on, from your iCloud database. Deleting the app also removes all local data.
- iCloud — you can additionally remove the app's data in iOS Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Storage.
- Consent — change or withdraw it at any time in Settings → Privacy.
- GDPR rights — access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection. Because we hold none of your content, most requests are fulfilled directly in the app; for anything concerning diagnostic data, write to the address above. You may also lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority (in Poland: Prezes Urzędu Ochrony Danych Osobowych).
Children
Good Days is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has used the app and analytics consent was given, contact us and we will delete the associated diagnostic data.
Nature of the app
Good Days is a motivational tool. It does not constitute medical advice, diagnosis or therapy and does not replace contact with a professional. Helpline and clinic details shown in the app are publicly available information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app changes. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, announced in the app.
